To apply the changes to the default configuration of MITgcmUV:
  cd bin
  ln -s ../verification/natl_box/code/SIZE.h ../bin/
  ln -s ../verification/natl_box/code/CPP_OPTIONS.h ../bin/
  ln -s ../verification/natl_box/code/CPP_EEOPTIONS.h ../bin/
  ln -s ../verification/natl_box/code/KPP_OPTIONS.h ../bin/
  ln -s ../verification/natl_box/code/external_fields_* ../bin/

Configure and compile the code:
  cd ../bin
  ../tools/genmake -makefile
  make depend
  make

To run:
  cd ../exe
  cp ../verification/natl_box/input/* .
  mitgcmuv >&! run.out

There is comparison output in:
 ../verification/natl_box/output/run.out

A FORTRAN program provides a verification procedure.
It is based on the boundary layer depth and will either issue:
'North Atlantic test passed.  KPPhbl file is unchanged.'
or:
'North Atlantic test failed.  KPPhbl file has changed.'

N.B.: On ORIGIN 2000 use f77 -bytereclen 

A matlab script, comp_output.m, creates plots for
reference (c32) and new surface temperature, boundary layer depth,
meridional section of tracer diffusivities, and 
corresponding differences.

Comments:
The input data is real*4.
