Branch point for: branch-exfmods-curt, branch-genmake2, release1, branch-nonh, tg2-branch, netcdf-sm0, checkpoint51n_branch 
 fixed the verification/global_ocean.90x40x15 experiment:
 - new bathymetry (the world according to A., JMC, and M.)
 - new initial fields and forcing fields (*.bin files)
 - new POLY3.COEFFS (for the next release one should switch to a full
   equation of state: JMD95P or MDJWF)
 - fixed several errors and redundancies in the data file
 - experiment uses looped cells
 - added matlab directory with diagnostic scripts for plotting of output

4 To apply the changes to the default configuration of MITgcmUV:

16 Comments:
17 o The input data is real*4.
18 o The surface fluxes are derived from monthly means of the NCEP climatology;
19 - a matlab script is provided that created the surface flux data files from
20 the original NCEP data: ncep2global_ocean.m in the diags_matlab directory,
21 needs editing to adjust search paths.
22 o matlab scripts that make a simple diagnostic (barotropic stream function,
23 overturning stream functions, averaged hydrography etc.) is provided in
24 diags_matlab:
25 - mit_loadglobal is the toplevel script that run all other scripts
26 - mit_globalmovie animates theta, salinity, and 3D-velocity field for
27 a layer "iz", if "meanfields=0"
